Course Description:

Bachelor in Midwifery (B.Mid) program of Kathmandu University following the midwifery model of care in collaboration with other health professionals to provide holistic care that meets each woman’s individual needs.  The course intends to develop competent midwives who are able to utilize evidence-based practice and will ensure that they are well prepared to practice safely and effectively, within the proficiencies laid down by the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM). This program will produce midwife leaders, advocates, collaborators and teachers committed to the improvement of the health of the women of Nepal. Graduate midwives can work in a variety of private or government health care settings in hospitals like maternity and neonatal care settings, in community rural and remote primary health care centers, academics/teaching, research, international aid organizations.

The BMID curriculum includes comprehensive study areas such as Anatomy and Physiology, Midwifery Science, Reproductive Health, Neonatal Care, Community Midwifery, Midwifery Pharmacology, and Research in Midwifery. It combines rigorous academic coursework with extensive clinical practice.
